Our wedding will be centred around Ballymaloe House, Shanagarry, Co. Cork, in Ireland. For those travelling from far afield, there are a number of ways to get to the area.
Air
From the UK or Europe, we would recommend flying into Cork Airport. The airport is well connected to London and Europe (destination list). The main airlines are Aer Lingus and Ryanair. The airport itself is around a 40 minute drive to Ballymaloe House.
If you are travelling from the US, we would recommend either flying into Dublin Airport and driving to Cork (approximately 3-3.5 hours, an easy drive on very good quality motorway) or flying into London Heathrow and getting a connection to Cork Airport (there are 5 flights a day on Aer Lingus).
Shannon Airport is another alternative for people travelling from the U.S. There are flights from New York and Boston. It’s around a 2 hour drive to Cork, although the road is less good than the Dublin-Cork road.
Train
There’s a good train service between Dublin and Cork with a 2.5 hour journey time. The nearest train station to Ballymaloe House is Midleton, although travelling to Midleton from Dublin requires a change of trains in Cork city and adds about an hour to to the journey time. It may be easiest to book a taxi collection from Cork station.
Tickets can be bought online at irishrail.ie
Driving
Ballymaloe House is a short drive from the main Dublin-Cork motorway. If you are renting a car and not familiar with Ireland’s lack of signposts and directions, we’d recommend hiring a sat-nav as well!
All the major car hire firms have offices at Dublin and Cork Airports.
