Photos
We love seeing wedding photos, and we would really like it if you could share your wedding pictures with us. We have set up a site on WedPics, which you can access below or by downloading the app to your iPhone or Android device.
Our wedding name is grainneandjames
Grainne’s sister
Grainne is lucky to have a wonderful twin sister. Even in city the size of London, this sometimes means people think one of them is intentionally blanking them when they have just encountered a twin sister. To help you figure out the difference (or similarities), Gráinne is on the left in the picture on the right.
Social media
We would ask that you respect the privacy of our special day by not posting images on social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Google Plus, etc)
Children
We regret that children cannot be accomodated at the wedding.
Dress code
The wedding itself
The dress code for the wedding and reception is black tie. For gentlemen, this means a tuxedo. For those ladies coming from the US, in Ireland it’s perfectly normal to wear a cocktail dress to a black tie event – no need for a floor-length ball gown! Also, please look at the weather advice below – a pashmina or cardigan to stay warm in the church may definitely be a good idea (in particular because Star of the Sea is on top of a hill, and so exposed to the Irish weather!).
If you are coming from abroad, we have been recommended Morleys in Cork City for formal wear rental.
Night before the wedding
The night before should be relatively informal. For men, jeans and a nice shirt plus a blazer would be perfectly fine (no tie!).
Day after the wedding
Our BBQ will be a relaxed and very informal affair. Jeans, shorts, t-shirts all welcome (depending on your bravery vis-a-vis the Irish weather)!
Transport
Staff at Ballymaloe House can organise taxis for guests after the reception. In addition, below are some local taxi drivers:
- Michael Walsh (Shanagarry): (086) 264 7001
- Ger Wall (Cloyne): (087) 771 2250
- East Cork Cabs (Midleton): (021) 463 4444
- Express Cabs (Midleton): (021) 463 3133
- David (Castlemartyr): (086) 159 9318
Weather
We will be at the mercy of the notoriously changeable Irish weather. You should expect temperatures during the day that average around 14 Centigrade (around 57 Farenheit), but we have requested sunshine! Just make sure you pack an umbrella just in case.
